Mit Hellucination liefern HELLSMOKE ein Album ab, das sich gewaschen hat: tiefgestimmte Gitarren, brutaler Druck, Ohrwurm-Refrains und ein Sänger, der klingt, als hätte er die Hölle persönlich überlebt. Der Titeltrack ist ein düsteres Meisterwerk. Der Song baut sich auf wie ein Albtraum aus Wahnsinn, Wut und Wahnsinn – ja, doppelt Wahnsinn! Der Gesang ist theatralisch und unheimlich zugleich. Hier regiert der Wahnsinn – und das mit Stil.
Shehocllsked
Schon jetzt ein Fanfavorit – völlig zu Recht! Der Groove fräst sich durch den Schädel, der Refrain zündet wie Dynamit. Aggressiv, eingängig, zerstörerisch – ein absoluter Moshpit-Garant!
Wheel Of Pain
Ein Midtempo-Monolith mit tonnenschwerem Druck. Der Text kratzt tief an der Seele, musikalisch rollt der Song wie ein Bulldozer. Und das Gitarrenriff? Eine pure Verneigung vor John Sykes! Die Liebe zum Whitesnake-Gitarrengott ist nicht zu überhören – Erinnerungen an 1987 werden wach. Wer Still of the Night liebt, wird hier in Tränen headbangen. Grandios und nostalgisch zugleich.
Ghost Of The Past
Melancholisch, düster, voller Atmosphäre – Ghost Of The Past ist eine emotionale Reise in die eigene Dunkelheit. Der Refrain zählt zu den schönsten und melodischsten Momenten des Albums – ein Chorus, der sogar in den 70ern funktioniert hätte. Der Song selbst erinnert ein wenig an Zakk Wylde, vor allem in der Gitarrenarbeit und der stimmlichen Tiefe – ohne je als Kopie zu wirken. Die Vocals berühren, die Instrumentierung legt sich wie ein dichter Nebel über den Hörer. Ein Highlight für die Gänsehaut-Fraktion.
Dangerzone
Old-School-Attitüde trifft moderne Härte – Dangerzone ist ein dreckiger, schneller Bastard von einem Song. Und dann diese Double Bass! Sie donnert wie ein Maschinengewehr mitten ins Gesicht und treibt den Song erbarmungslos vorwärts. Lederjacken, Whiskey, verschwitzte Clubs – das ist der Soundtrack dazu.
Pain
Der Name ist Programm. Dieser Song tut weh – emotional und musikalisch. Hier klingt der Frontmann wie ein gebrochener Kämpfer, der nie aufgegeben hat. Düster, schwer, ehrlich – und mit einem Refrain, der unter die Haut geht.
Bloodline
Ein Groove-Brecher par excellence! Das Riff sägt alles nieder, die Rhythmussektion marschiert wie eine Armee. Der Refrain bricht wie eine Flutwelle – unaufhaltsam und unvergesslich.
Sinner Saints
Ein Groove-Monster vor dem Herrn! Dieser Song walzt alles platt – mit einem Riff, das wie ein Dampfhammer zuschlägt, und einem Refrain, der dich zwingt, die Fäuste zu heben. Und dann dieser Schrei! Wie ein wilder Gruß aus der Hölle – ganz im Stil von Diamond Dave – rotzig, high-pitched, geil! Dazu ein Gitarrensolo, das brennt wie flüssiger Stahl. Schon jetzt klar: Diese Band ist meine ganz persönliche Entdeckung für 2025!
Taking Its Toll
Was für ein Finale! Taking Its Toll ist kein leiser Abgang – es ist ein gnadenloser Double-Bass-Brecher, der alles pulverisiert, was noch stehen geblieben ist. Der Song treibt wie ein D-Zug durch den Gehörgang, brettert alles nieder und reißt dich mit ins Inferno. 11 Songs und 42 Minuten – voll in die Fresse. So muss Metal klingen! Mein Metalherz lacht – und schreit nach mehr von dieser Killer-Combo aus Schweden!

FAZIT:
Hellucination ist mehr als nur ein starkes Album – es ist ein Bekenntnis zur Kraft des Groove Metal. HELLSMOKE liefern Riffs zum Niederknien, Songs zum Abfeiern, Emotionen zum Mitfühlen. Diese Band hat alles: Power, Attitüde, Seele – und eine Zukunft, auf die man sich freuen kann.

Wheel Of Pain
A midtempo colossus drenched in melancholy and weight. Lyrically deep, musically crushing. And that riff? A clear homage to John Sykes! The influence of Whitesnake's 1987 classic is undeniable. If you love Still of the Night, prepare to headbang through tears of nostalgia. Powerful and gloriously retro.
Ghost Of The Past
Dark, melodic, immersive – Ghost Of The Past is an emotional descent into inner shadows. Its chorus is among the most beautiful and melodic moments on the album – a refrain that would have stood proud even in the 1970s. There’s a distinct Zakk Wylde vibe in the guitar work and vocal phrasing – yet never derivative. The vocals reach deep, the arrangement envelops you. A goosebump-inducing highlight.
Dangerzone

Taking Its Toll
And what a finale! Taking Its Toll is anything but subtle – a double bass onslaught that bulldozes through everything left standing. Relentless and unforgiving, this closer is pure intensity. Eleven songs and 42 minutes – straight to the face. This is how metal should sound. My metal heart is overjoyed – and already craving the next sonic assault from this Swedish killer combo.

Hellucination is not a debut, but it feels like a rebirth – a confident, sharpened strike from a band that knows exactly who they are. HELLSMOKE prove that groove metal is very much alive. They bring riffs to die for, songs to scream for, and emotion that bleeds through every note. With power, personality, and a sound all their own – this band is not just a name to remember.
